Passport : General Information

  1. Indian Nationals living in the areas of Lombardy, Piedmont, Aosta Valley, Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Liguria and Emilia-Romagna can apply for Passport services at the Consulate General of India in Milan.
  2. In compliance with the regulations of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), only Machine-Readable Printed Passports(MRP) are now to be accepted for international travel. Indian citizens residing in India and abroad and holding handwritten passports, should, therefore, apply for re-issue of passports and obtain MRP passports in order to avoid any inconvenience in obtaining foreign visa or immigration problem.
  3. Prior appointment is required for submission of Passport application.
  4. Passport applications are accepted from Monday to Friday (except holidays), between 0930 hours and 1230 hours. To know the days on which services will not be rendered, please see the List of Holidays at http://www.cgimilan.gov.in/page/holidays/
  5. All applicants, irrespective of minor children (except new born children within age of ONE years) have to submit application for passports in person.
  6. The passport can be applied for reissue from one year before its expiry.
  7. The applicant has to fill the form online and bring a print out of the form. Application form can be filled through this URL https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/.
  8. All applications for a passport service, whether for a new passport, re-issue of passport upon expiry or loss/theft/damage, change in the entries in the existing passport (including complete/partial name change, splitting of Name-Surname, change of name after marriage, change in appearance, change in date of birth, change in place of birth, change in gender, change in signature or exhaustion of pages in the existing passport booklet) will be made through the link only.
  9. Please note that birth registration of a child born to Indian parents should be done at the Consulate within one year of the birth, otherwise there will be delay in issuing a passport to the child.
  10. Passport, on being re-issued, has to be collected by applicants themselves except in the following cases: Husband/wife can collect the passports of his/her spouse with documentary proof of their relationship. Passports of minor children (below the age of 18 years at the time of collection) can be collected by either of their parents with proof of parentage.

Fresh Passport for Minors

  3. Duly filled child's birth registration form (to be filled online at https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/) under category ‘Registration of birth of a minor child at an Indian Consulate Under section 4(1) of the Citizenship Act, 1955’
  4. Original and clear photocopy of Birth certificate issued from Comune(either Multilingual or with English translation) having the name of the child, date of birth, place of birth, gender of the new born and names of both the parents (self-attested by parents).
  5. Original and clear copy of valid Permesso D’Soggiorno of the child, if issued (self-attested by parents).
  6. Original and clear copies of all the relevant pages(first, last and endorsement pages) of the passports of both the parents (self-attested by parents).
  7. Original and clear copies of Permesso D’Soggiorno of both the parents. If the validity of the Soggiorno has already expired, a clear copy of the Receipt for Renewal of the same should also be submitted (self-attested by parents).
  8. Original and clear copy of the Address proof (Carta D’Identita or any other proof like any Utility bill-electricity/water/fuel bill or rent agreement, Ospity and its translation in English) of the parents (self-attested by parents).
  9. Original and clear copy of the Marriage Certificate (self-attested) of the parents if their names are not endorsed on each other’s passport.
  10. If the birth of the child is not registered within one year of the birth, the reason for delay in registering the birth, in writing, duly signed by both the parents, is required.

b)       

Reissue of  passport in respect of children below the age of 18 years

  1. Duly filled and signed Passport Application form (to be filled online at https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/)
  2. Two Photographs(5cmsx 5 cms) Click here for photo specifications.
  3. Original passport and clear copies of the relevant pages (first, last and endorsement pages) of the passport of the Minor applicant (self-attested by either of the parents).
  4. Original and clear copy of valid Permesso D’Soggiorno of the Minor applicant (self-attested by either of the parents). If the validity of the Soggiorno has already expired, a clear copy of the Receipt for Renewal of the same should be attached.
  5. Original and clear copy of the Address proof of the Minor child (self-attested by either of the parents) ( Carta D’Identita or any other proof like any Utility bill-electricity/water/fuel bill or rent agreement, Ospity along with translation in English).
  6. Original and clear copies of all the relevant pages (first, last and endorsement pages) of the passports of both the parents (self-attested by parents).
  7. Original and clear copies of Permesso D’Soggiorno of both the parents. If the validity of the Soggiorno has already expired, a clear copy of the Receipt for Renewal of the same should also be submitted (self-attested by parents).

c)       

Reissue of  passport in respect of Adults

  1. Duly filled and signed Passport Application form (to be filled online at https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/)
  2. Two Photographs(5cmsx 5 cms) Click here for photo specifications.
  3. Original Passport and clear copies of the relevant pages (first, last and endorsement pages) of the passport of the applicant (self-attested).
  4. Clear copy of valid Permesso D’Soggiorno of the applicant (self-attested). If the validity of the Soggiorno has already expired, a clear copy of the Receipt for Renewal of the same should be attached.
  5. Clear copy of the Address proof of the applicant (self-attested) (Carta D’Identita or any other proof like any Utility bill-electricity/water/fuel bill or rent agreement, Ospity along with translation in English).
