Surrender of Indian Passport by erstwhile Citizens of India
Under the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955, persons of Indian origin are NOT allowed to hold dual citizenship. If a person had ever held Indian nationality (and Passport) and subsequently voluntarily obtained nationality / Passport of another country, he / she ceases to be an Indian national and is required only to surrender his /her Indian Passport by filling an online application at the

The application has to be submitted physically at the Consulate for a fees of Euro 38 (35 + 2 for ICWF+1 Bank Charges) to be paid online in the Consulate’s Bank account. The payment receipt must be attached with the application form. Additional Fee for surrender of Indian passport on acquisition of foreign nationality for cases prior to 01.06.2010 will be Euro 20 to be deposited online. The payment receipt must be attached with the application form.
Documents required:
1. Duly completed form with photographs as above

2. Copy of old/last Indian passport and Italian (or foreign) passports.
3. Copy of Nationality / Decree (signed copy) of obtaining nationality certificate showing date and method (registration / naturalisation etc.) of obtaining foreign nationality.
4. Residential proof (Carta d’ Identità, Copy of energy bill, phone bills etc)
Important Note
1. A passport surrender certificate will be issued to them. It may be noted here that Surrender Certificate is a mandatory document for applying for OCI.
2. Applicants need to submit all documents physically at the Consulate by taking online appointment.
3. In case of minors (below 18 years of age), presence of both parents is mandatory on the day of appointment.
