Issue of Duplicate passport (short validity passport) / Emergency Certificate in case of tourists and casual visitors:

All visitors are advised to take usual precautions while traveling with regard to their valuable belongings and passports.It is advised to keep a copy of your Passport and visa pages. In case of Loss or theft of Passport it is recommended to immidiately file a FIR with the local Police Office/Questura. It is mandatory to record the passport number on the police report. Police reports filed outside italy will not be accepted for issue of temporary travel document. 

A Short Validity Passport or an Emergency Certificate could be issued in such cases to facilitate travel. Regarding payment for issue of temporary travel document, you may refer to the fee schedule mentioned on the website.

Emergency Certificate is a one time travel document for want of a valid Indian Passport or due to loss/damage of Indian Passport, to enable an Indian citizen to reach India, by the shortest route, due to any kind of emergency.


Documents required for Emergency Certificate:

1. Emergency Certificate Application

2. Expired Passport, if available

3. Clear copies of the relevant pages of the passport.

4. If the passport is lost, an FIR (Police Report), clearly mentioning the name of the applicant and the Passport number, along with translation in English and copies of the same

5. Confirmed air ticket to back to India,

6. Three colour passport size (taken recently),

7. Fee may be ascertained from Fee Schedule menu.
