As of now, the restrictions on commercial passenger flights are in place till 3 May 2020 (1830 hrs GMT). We strongly urge all Indian Nationals in Italy to stay put and refrain from all non-essential travels.

Can Consulate help in arranging special flight?

For ensuring public health safety, India is lockdown till 3rd May. No commercial passenger flights are allowed to land. All are requested to stay put and refrain from non-essential travels.

My family members/ friends having Italian passport are stuck in India due to Lockdown. Can they be allowed to travel to Italy?

My family members, who have a Stay permit(Permisso Di Soggiorno)/ Work permit /Student permit for Italy are stuck in India. Are they allowed to travel to Italy?

5.      

My relatives are stuck in India with special visa issued recently, it is going to expire soon. How can they extend their visa?

They can take get the visa extended from the office of the concerned FRRO, through e-FRRO (https://indianfrro.gov.in/frro/)

6.      

How one can re-route flights or get refund for cancelled flights?

Applicant should contact the concerned airline in this regard.

7.      

I am an Indian tourist currently in  Italy and stranded due to non availability of flights. What should I do?

No commercial passenger flights are allowed to land in India till 3 May 2020 (1830 hrs GMT).  Please write to us at cons2.milan@mea.gov.in with the subject ‘Stranded Indian Tourist’ duly sharing your passport numbers, current location, contact numbers and other specific issues if any.

Will travellers from Italy to India be quarantined in India for 14 days?

No commercial passenger flights are allowed to land in India till 3 May 2020 (1830 hrs GMT). Any person arriving in India is subject to the health measures applicable at the time of landing as prescribed by the Government of India.You can see updates at:  https://www.mohfw.gov.in/

Whether   foreigners transiting through restricted countries allowed traveling to India?

All commercial passenger flights have been barred from taking passengers from restricted countries including Italy. No commercial passenger flights are allowed to land in India till 3 May 2020 (1830 hrs GMT).

 

10.                         

Whether COVID-19 Negative test report is required for travel from Italy? Would this requirement be valid after 3rd May, 2020.

Current requirement for COVID-19 negative certificate remains valid till further instructions/advisories are received in this regard. No commercial passenger flights are allowed to land in India till 3 May 2020 (1830 hrs GMT).

11.                         

Certain airlines are available for booking tickets after first week of May 2020. Should I proceed to buy tickets and plan my travels.

To avoid any financial loss, you are advised to buy air tickets once an update about resumption of flights is given on Consulate’s website or its social media platforms.

12.                         

My work permit/study permit/residence permit has expired or is going to expire soon. This will render my status as illegal. Given the COVID-19 situation, will I be allowed by the Italian Government to regularize my status once the situation becomes normal. Will Consulate help in such matters?

As per the information received from the Italian authorities, all Certificates/permits/concessions and authorizations expiring between Jan 31, 2020 and Apr 15, 2020, shall remain valid until Jun 15, 2020. The renewal application can be submitted after Jun 15,  2020.

B.

Consular Services related

13.                         

I have already submitted the Passport/OCI/Visa application before the COVID-19 outbreak and the Passport/OCI card is ready for collection. How can I collect the ready document?

In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, all Consular Services have been suspended till further notice. You can collect your ready documents once the services are resumed at the Consulate.

14.                         

I have already submitted the Passport/OCI/Visa application before the COVID-19 outbreak but the online status of Passport/OCI card is still not available. How can I trace the status of my application?

It is highly likely that your application has been already processed. In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, all Consular Services have been suspended till further notice.  You may check with us once the services are resumed at the Consulate.

15.                         

If someone has lost passport and due to COVID-19 / Lockdown, how will he/she be able to get passport issued in such a situation?

It is advised to file online report with your local police department and give reference of the acknowledgement received. You can apply for reissue of the Passport once the services are resumed at the Consulate.

Students related

16.                         

I am student in Italy. Due to COVID- 19, my University/College has shut its campuses till further notice, and classes /exams have been changed to the online mode. I want to return to India due to ongoing situation.

My course is completed/about to complete in Italy. I am feeling home sick and want to travel to India as soon as possible. I have already booked my ticket to   India, however, could not travel due to the restrictions. What arrangements the Consulate or GOI is making for stranded people like us? Is there any special flight arranged from Italy to India?

COVID-19 is an unprecedented pandemic affecting all countries in the world, including India. India has declared the 2nd lockdown till 3 May 2020 for safety of millions of our countrymen, as such there are travel restrictions till 3 May 2020 (1830 hrs GMT). We request you to have patience. You are advised to stay where you are and observe the social distancing norms. Please move out only when absolutely essential and take proper health measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. Follow the medical advisories issued by your institution and the Indian Government.

To avoid any financial loss, you are also advised to buy air tickets once an update about resumption of flights is given on Consulate’s website or its social media platforms.

18.                         

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, I am unable to sustain myself and even lack food, ration, etc. Is the Consulate providing any support in this regard?

As per information available with us, all groceries and pharmacies are open in Italy and accessible even during the lockdown. In case there are any specific issues/difficulties, you may write to us at cons3.milan@mea.gov.in and cons2.milan@mea.gov.in
